Midjourney Parameter Guide: Weird

Exploring Unconventional Aesthetics with –weird or –w

The --weird or --w parameter introduces quirky and alternative qualities to the images you generate, producing unique and unexpected results.

Accepted Values

--weird accepts values from 0 to 3000.

Default Value

The default value for --weird is 0.

Compatibility and Experimental Nature

--weird is a highly experimental feature and is compatible with Midjourney Model versions 5, 5.1, 5.2, 6, niji 5, and niji 6. It is not fully compatible with seeds.

Impact on Image Generation

The best value for --weird depends on the prompt and requires experimentation. Start with lower values (e.g., 250 or 500) and adjust from there. If you want to balance traditional appeal with weirdness, try higher --stylize values alongside --weird. It is recommended to start with similar values for both. For example:

/imagine prompt cyanotype cat --stylize 250 --weird 250

Examples

Example 1: Cyanotype Cat

Prompt: /imagine prompt cyanotype cat --weird 250

Example 2: Lithograph Potato

Prompt: /imagine prompt lithograph potato --weird 250

Example 3: Clockwork Chicken

Prompt: /imagine prompt clockwork chicken --weird 250

Differences Between –weird, –chaos, and –stylize

  • --chaos controls the degree of variation between initial grid images.
  • --stylize controls the intensity of the default Midjourney aesthetic.
  • --weird controls the degree of weirdness compared to typical Midjourney images.

How to Use the Weird Parameter

Add --weird <value> or --w <value> to the end of your prompt.
